How many memory care units are licensed around Salt Lake City?
DLBC's October 2026 report lists 40 Type II assisted living licenses with secure beds in Salt Lake and Tooele counties, totaling 1,194 secure beds; 13 of those licenses are entirely secure.
Secure units are listed here by number of secure beds. The cities with the most are South Jordan (8), Salt Lake City (6), Sandy (6), Draper (4), Taylorsville (3), Riverton (2).
Why does Utah list secure beds instead of memory care licenses?
Utah has no separate memory care license; a locked dementia unit is an approved secure unit within a Type II assisted living license, and DLBC's monthly report shows how many of each license's beds are secure.
